How to detail a car’s interior

Detailing a car sounds a lot more complicated than it really is.  All it really means is that when you are cleaning your car, you are paying much more attention to the details than you normally would.  Now, you can pay someone a bunch of money for someone to do this for you, or you can save a few bucks and do it yourself.

The first thing you want to do is remove the floor mats and vacuum them.  Leave them out while vacuuming the inside of the car, this includes the upholstery, floor, trunk dash and the rear parcel shelf (if one is included in your vehicle)

You can then use a foam cleanser to clean the carpets and upholstery stains, use a damp cloth with the cleanser after allowing it to sit for a few minutes.  You may need to repeat this a few times in order to get all of the stains out.

Sometimes holes can appear in the carpet from wear.  These are easily hidden by cutting out the offending area and replacing it with another piece from elsewhere.  You can easily grab some extra carpet from under the seat where it is not visible.  When gluing it down, make sure to use a water resistant adhesive.

Use a multi purpose cleaner to clean all of the hard surfaces like the dashboard, gear shift, door handles and center consoles.  To get into the tiny crevices, corners and buttons, a compressed air can will work the best, the same kind one would use to clean computer keyboards.

Obviously use window cleaner on the windows, and if you have any leather interior in your car, a leather conditioner can do wonders.

Now the inside of your car is detailed.  If you really want to go the full nine yards, you can get an air freshener with a new car smell, and feel the luxury you did when you first bought it.
